Man is THAT a weird feeling.
It went by much quicker than I thought it would, but it was very full on. I don't have any marks yet, but I think I did pretty well over all, but there are some areas that need a lot more work than others. The main thing I need to do this holidays is build up my skill with wet medium. I'm going to start out with acrylic, seeing as it's the most affordable option, but it's not going to be cheap by any stretch of the imagination. I'm thinking of doing a series of paintings, that way it'll be easier to see what I'm doing right and wrong, and seeing as I bought the new Pokemon game recently, I had a bit of a though. Wynaut paint a series of pokemon? There's a huge range of colors and textures to practice with and there's plenty of room to play around with different styles, and it should be easy to find reference material for them. I haven't bought material yet, but the idea is definitely appealing.
In other news, my mum turns 50 this week and Dad has whisked her off to Melbourne to have themselves to themselves for a while. I bought her some chocolates but we were out of wrapping paper, so I wrapped them up in plastic bags and hid them in my wardrobe until I could buy some. Today I did, and when I got the chocolates out to wrap them I discovered, to my utter horror, that something had chewed through the plastic and eaten half of them! I immediately thought we had a rat in the house and told my sister, who freaked, and then called Mum and Dad to get the whereabouts of the rat baits. They didn't answer their phones so I pulled on some rubber gloves and got to it. The industrious little creature had ripped open a spare pillow I kept in there and pulled out the stuffing, as well as shredding some scrap paper and building a nest out of it inside my old camping back pack, it was an impressive little set up! I dumped the pillow and the nest and kept on looking. After about 10 minutes, I found one very pregnant mouse hiding in a spare portfolio I kept in there. I managed to trap it inside a shopping bag and chucked it into a thicket a ways away from the house, but my sister wanted me to chuck it and the nest onto the train tracks, backpack and all! Overreacting much? So, I cleaned the wardrobe, washed the bag, bought more chocolates and all was well.
Still, it wasn't how I expected to spend the first day of my holidays!
Mum called back in the end, I thought she'd be mad about there being vermin in the house but she was only upset about the chocolates! This woman has her priorities straight
