Just something silly I drew while procrastinating.
Vagabond has a very well honed flight or fight instinct, so when she gets startled by something she scales the most defensible object in the blink of an eye. Unfortunately, Lauchlan is usually the most defensible object she can get her claws into.
I'm pretty proud of how his expression and hands turned out. I've been taking some life drawing classes again and I really think I'm getting better at drawing people and gestural stuff. Hope you get a chuckle out of this

I like it ^^ it definitely gets the surprise across~ I like the little details too, the spilling coffee is great.
My suggestions would be, firstly to make the "bang" bigger/bolder! Comic page style, it could emphasize the startling noise
Secondly, there are a few quibbles about the anatomy. As you say, it is something that just takes forever practicing and observing, nothing here looks terrible but, for example, either the newspaper is tiny or his right hand is pretty big. His bathrobe also clings to him in a somewhat.. marshmallowy way? Without folds to show where it's loose or hanging on his body, it does give an impression that he's rather rounded and puffy xD But anyway, it is quite good.. keep it up
